ANNOUNCING OUR FIRST EVER ROUNDTABLE

As part of of our Christmas event we will be hosting our first ever roundtable where we will facilitate a discussion around the use of videos in blogging. This is a sponsored event and is part of the Reality Check Video Conversation Series hosted by Real Player SP.

There will be a short presentation on the key points raised in the roundtable as well as an opportunity to discuss video applications hosted by John Dimitropoulos from RealPlayer Asia Pacific. This segment will be videotaped on an opt-in basis. Follow @realplayer on Twitter.

The topic for the roundtable is "Will video kill the blog?" and the subject matter will be a wide ranging look at the impact of new video technology on the form and content of Social Media.

  • Will changes in video technology reshape Social Media?
  • Does YouTube own Social Media?
  • Is there a place in Social Media for the Vlog?
  • How have video enabled 3G mobile devices changed the landscape for video?
  • Is video on the web just the Reality TV of tomorrow?
  • Can you expect big things when you embed video into your blog?

Some of our first roundtable guests include;

  • Natalie Tran – Australia’s most popular YouTube channel with more than 470,000 subscribers and 23,000,000 views
  • Nate Burr -  Author and host of Australia's most irreverant Vlog.
  • Tim Burrowes – mUmbrella Australia’s leading marketing blog has just started using video with some amazing results.

The roundtable event will take place in the glass room at the Oxford Art Factory from 6pm on the night of the main event (Monday 7 December).

Mark Pollard Speaks about The Perfect Gift for a Man

The book, The Perfect Gift for a Man – 30 Stories about Reinventing Manhood aims to get men talking about their feelings in a bid to help prevent male suicide in Australia.

Touched by the mental health, drug and alcohol problems facing young Australian men, local bloggers Gavin Heaton and Mark Pollard appealed to their readers, friends and family to honestly share the intense emotions and experiences of being a man. This collection of stories has been published into a high quality book for the first time, using online creative publishing website Blurb.com’s unique self-publishing capability.
